The Indigenous Supportive Housing Program (ISHP) at AHT provides essential assistance to the Indigenous community, which is disproportionately affected by the housing crisis in the Greater Toronto Area. This program supports low-income individuals and families who are struggling to cope with Toronto’s soaring rent prices alongside their daily living expenses.
AHT’s housing team focuses on helping clients find and secure stable housing, advocating with landlords to build trust and facilitate successful moves. The team also specializes in providing financial assistance for first and last month’s rent, utility and rental arrears, and exploring options for rent subsidies. In addition, the program offers critical support to clients facing eviction, including guidance on navigating the Landlord and Tenant Board.
Through these efforts, AHT’s housing program has become a vital resource for the mental well-being of the Indigenous community, allowing clients to focus on their health and other life priorities without the constant worry of housing instability. We are deeply proud of the positive impact we’ve made in helping countless clients navigate the housing crisis and secure safe, stable homes. AHT remains committed to this important work and is prepared to continue supporting the community for years to come.
